His birthday in High Falls
2020 was a really weird year for all of us, but being able to host Ryan for his birthday that year meant a lot to me. We weren't working together anymore, and it was much harder to coordinate with covid and being further upstate in High Falls instead of Brewster.
Ryan had been here several times before, and was also gracious enough to share his own photos from this trip, including the journey from Grand Central, observations on the night sky we watched, and documenting my frustrating greenhouse build.
We took a drive through our favorite valley and discovered Moore Hill Road, and I even managed to get us both in the water right in the peak sunshine of the day.
We made a great feast for his birthday, and I like to think that even if just for a night, he felt the love from his New York family.
I will miss having you in the Hudson Valley as a guest and a brother.
